UNTH Foundation

The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Foundation was founded in December 2021 as an independent, non-profit, and apolitical organization in Nigeria. In 2023, it was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charity organization in the United States.

The Foundation was primarily created to mobilize funding, medical equipment, assistance for staff training and exchange programmes, research, and policy engagement, funding that enables indigent people to access quality healthcare, community, and public engagement on healthcare-related interventions, and fostering healthcare entrepreneurship at UNTH and throughout Nigeria. The Foundation envisions being a role model for facilitating quality, cost-effective, and available healthcare delivery in Nigeria. While it is our mission to be Nigeria's preferred partner for healthcare service, research, and entrepreneurship, this for us is built around a workplace culture and commitment to the following values:

Our Programmes

The foundations programmes are conceptualised to mobilise and catalyse quality, cost-effective, available, and accessible healthcare services through the following thematic focus areas:

Our healthcare service delivery unit engages and supports tertiary and primary healthcare initiatives, including infrastructure, training of medical and paramedical personnel, personnel welfare, and other similar initiatives that improve quality and cost-effective healthcare delivery, availability, and accessibility of healthcare services for all, including the indigent.

We engage in research and horizon scanning designed to improve healthcare service delivery, stimulate policy formulation, and encourage health entrepreneurship while influencing the future of the healthcare industry. This also includes our commitment to becoming a repository of healthcare-related data, monitoring and evaluation, and learning and replicating lessons learned.

Building healthcare-related industries is a focus of ours, including businesses, start-ups, and innovations that address the rising demand for healthcare products and services, changes in the medical field and technological advancements, healthcare services (tertiary and primary healthcare), and biotechnology.
